To,
Mr. N Gopalaswami
Chief Election Commissioner,
Nirvachan Sadan,
Ashoka Road
New Delhi 110001,

Sub:  We humbly petition the Election commissioners, to create a level playing field for the ensuing Assembly Election in Goa, as well as save the electoral process, from being turned into a mockery, and the democratic process trampled, and held with disdain by the Goan Politicians.

Through the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Panjim Goa.

Sir,

Further to our letter dated 13/02/07 we are at pains to submit, that we have received from unknown individuals, messages that are both frightening as well as damaging, to our organization and our objectives of fielding 40 candidates, in the next elections to wash the Goan Government stable of the mess and corruption.

There are whispers gaining momentum that all political parties are going to flush the 40 constituencies, with money, home appliances, four and two wheeler vehicles food and drinks.  Hence it is our collective and firm perception, that the messages we have received are indeed authentic.

We have received the following messages.

  1. We (read as Political parties) will not permit you to finalize the 40 candidates for the next Goan Assembly Elections.
  2. We will buy your proposed candidates family members, his friends, his well wishers, his supporters and finally isolate the proposed candidate.
  3. We will not hesitate to spent 50 to 60 lakhs to distant your proposed candidate from his family, his supporters, and his well wishers.
  4. We will see which individuals have the courage, to agree to contest against us at the next Goan Assembly Elections.

Indeed commissioners, the threat perception are credible and extremely probable. The ground reality underlines the gigantic nature of the problem, engulfing the tiny but beautiful state of Goa.  The voters are terrified of the political leaders; their supporters keep monitoring the action of the voters, as well as the entrance of new candidates, and the same is reported to their masters.

Therefore we humbly request you to facilitate the might of your Office, to have a thorough investigation into the said whispers gaining momentum, as well as we humbly petition you, to create a level playing field, a field where the voters as well as the new candidates of a new organizations, are not intimidated with threats, money, four and two wheeler vehicles, home appliances etc.

Commissioners, in the event you are unable to create a fair and level playing field, for all candidates contesting the elections, kindly direct our organization, to close shop, go home and abstain from contesting the next Goan Assembly Election, as  our candidates would surely be stripped of their support base, by the political parties and others, and hence we would be unable to field candidates for the next Assembly Elections.

We look up to you to save Goa its unique beauty, culture and identity

For Goynche Niz Mogi.
